At Waterford Hand Therapy we provide a specialized service for injury, surgery or acquired conditions affecting the hand, wrist and forearm. 

Our service provides a tailored assessment based off your presentation and a specialist care to attend to your specific needs. This may include  rehabilitation from an injury or surgery, a thorough assessment with onward referral for surgery or long term condition management. 

 

Services

Assessment

All interventions recommend are based on a thorough assessment specific to your needs.  A comprehensive assessment will be completed based on your history of the presenting issue, surgery, and scans( XRAY/CT/MRI).

This is usually followed by a physical examination of the presentation and differential diagnosis to tailor your treatment plan. 

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation needs are identified based on your history and assessment.

Rehabilitation may include a tailored exercise program to regain range of motion and strength, custom splinting, scar care, oedema management, desensitization, sensory re-education and wound care. 

Post-Surgery Care

Surgery to the hand/wrist can be secondary to an injury or a planed elective procedure. The hand and wrist is an intricate part of the body with multiple moving parts that are highly sensitive to injury or surgery.  

 

Our service provides a wealth knowledge and experience in post operative wound care, suture removal, tendon repair, fracture fixation, ligament and nerve repair and aftercare for more common elective surgeries for dupuytrens, finger joint replacements and trapeziectomy.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required will depend on your specific condition and treatment plan. We do not operate a fixed number of treatment session but tailor and recomend based on your needs. 

Do you accept insurance?

If you have private health insurance this may cover part or all of your treatment. After each session you will be provided with a receipt to aid your claim with your insurance provider. 

My qualification is as an Occupational Therapist therefore you must check with your insurance provider if they offer reimbursement.
